I know I’ve been posting some weird acoustic instruments lately but this thing is a beast! Tan Dun – The Map (8/9 “Tongue Singing”)

The Map is a 55 minute orchestral piece by Chinese composer Tan Dun. The piece was originally created in 2002 for the Boston Symphony Orchestra, who performed the piece a year later in Massachusetts featuring renown cellist Yo-Yo Ma. The performance made it’s way around the world but came to a halt after it’s most recent show in Amsterdam just over a year ago. It was recommended to me by one of my professors.. I watched the entire performance but the segment above stood out to me the most.
